  • Description: M31 - the Andromeda galaxy, the closest major galaxy to us at about 2.2 million light years. Most likely the largest in our "local group" of galaxies. Easily visible naked eye from a dark location, stunning in large binoculars! (but you won't see the colours!) First recorded history appears to be by a Persian astronomer in 964 AD.

  • Exposure: 60 red, 60 green, 50 blue
  • Guiding: SBIG ST-i and OAG
  • Location: near Cayley, Alberta, Canada.
  • Date: September 4th-5th, 2013
