Chris’ Astrophotos

Welcome to my web page of my astrophotography.

I’m an amateur astronomer living in Calgary. I’ve been interested in astronomy and atmospheric phenomena since I was a young child growing up in Ottawa and watching the stars during cold clear winter nights as well as aurora, sun dogs and rainbows

My photos so far. Click on an image for a larger version.

M13 Hercules Cluster

M27 Dumbell Nebula

M33 Whirlpool Galaxy in Triangulum

M57 Ring Nebula in Lyra

NGC6888 Crescent Nebula in Cygnus

Galaxies M58, M59 and M60 across, with some little NGC galaxies in a wide field view behind Leo

Galaxies M65, M66 and NGC 3628 in a wide field image below Leo

Globular Cluster M56 in Lyra, taken 2022-09-02 from RASC WCO. Stack of 7ea of LRGB of 1.5min for L subs, and 5min for RGB

Globular Cluster M15 Taken 2022-08-30 from RASC’s WCO. Stack of 11R,7G,11B of 5min each

My first RGBHaO3 Combine. M52 cluster w NGC7635 Bubble Nebula taken during full moon from city of Calgary 2022-09-09, Bortle 9 10xRGB 5min ea + 8xHa 7nm & Oiii 8.5n 10min ea. 644mm FL

M52 taken a few days earlier 2022-08-28, also from Calgary but new moon and 1085mm FL. 8R10GB@5min each

M34 Open Cluster taken from Calgary 2022-08-28. 1085mmFL and 10R9G&B subs of 3min each

M75 Globular Cluster in Sagitarius taken 2022-08-30, low on the horizon through smoke. 1085mmFl 5R&G, 6B sub exposures of 5min each

M52 Cluster w NGC7635 Bubble Nebula revisited from a Bortle 4.5 site in the country, waning crescent moon. 5X10min each RGB subs with 5x15min Ha and Oiii subs, combined in Photoshop. Many more stars and nebula showing due to the longer exposures possible from the darker site. Same telescope and camera.

Same shot but in RGB only without narrowband Ha or O3, for comparison.
