NGC 7635 – Planetary Nebula in Cassiopeia

  • Description: - 12th magnitude Planetary nebula in Cassiopeia about 11,000 light years away. The bubble is created by the strong stellar wind of the young central star pushing into the cloud of Hydrogen gas after it ignited. North is Left. The cluster to the lower left of it is Messier 52

  • Camera: SBIG STT-8300M @ -35C Sensor Temperature

  • Filter: Baader RGB

  • Scope: Astro-Physics AP92Stowaway w 92FF, 644mm FL at f/7

  • Guiding: SBIG FW8G

  • Exposure: 5 x 10 minutes each colour RGB

  • Location: near Cluny, Alberta under Bortle 4.5 skies

  • Date: 2022-09-21



NGC 7635 – Same but from Bortle 9 city

  • Description: - Same subject as above but taken from within a major city with a nearly full moon. Total integration time is the same as above but twice as many exposures of half the duration. Plus processing required Dynamic Background Extraction in PixInsight to remove green gradients from the city lit skies.

  • Location: uptown Calgary, Alberta Canada under Bortle 9 skies with a full moon 73deg away
