M17 Omega Nebula – Bright Nebula in Sagittarius

  • Description: - A large bright nebula in the central region of the Milky Way in Sagittarius. This item is low on the horizon for Northern locations reaching a heigh of less than 23degrees at most. Between its low altitude, neighbouring hills and soft skies I only managed a quick imaging of this item.

  • Telescope: Astro-Physics AP92 Stowaway with 92TCC, giving a focal length of 488mm f/5.3..

  • Camera: SBIG STT-8300M @ -35C Sensor Temperature

  • Exposure: 5 Red, 5 Green and 5 Blue sub exposures of 5min each for 75 minutes total through Baader RGB filters

  • Date: 2023-09-10 at 10C and 61%RH.

  • Location: Southern Alberta Star Party near Elkwater, Alberta and Cypress Hills Dark Sky Reserve under Bortle 4.5 skies

  • Processed in PixInsight with NoiseXT and BlurXT, then finished in Adobe Photoshop.
