M45 Plieades – Open Cluster in Taurus

  • Description: - A bright naked eye open cluster of young stars in Taurus. Famously known as the Plieades or Seven Sisters, who in Western Lore are running away from hunter Orion and his two dogs. This is my first crack at this one and I didn't go deep enough to get the very faint gauzy dirty brown parts.

  • Telescope: Astro-Physics AP92Stowaway refractor w 92FF giving 644mm focal length at f/7.

  • Camera: SBIG STT-8300M @ -35C Sensor Temperature

  • Exposure: 7 Red, 7 Green and 6 Blue sub exposures of 7.5min each for 150minutes total through Baader RGB filters

  • Date: 2023-09-17 at 13C and 45%RH.

  • Location: a friend's private acreage near Cayley, Alberta under Bortle 4 skies

  • Processed in PixInsight with NoiseXT and BlurXT, then finished in Adobe Photoshop.
