Description: - Emission
Nebula in Cepheus, which contains IC 1396A known colloquially as
The Elephant’s Trunk Nebula. IC 1396 is about 3 full degrees
across in size (6 full moons), and physically about 100Ly across
and approximately 2400Ly away. The entire cloud is lit up by the
bright star in the center, HD 206267 which is a triplet of
stars, two of which are gravitationally bound with an orbit of
3.7 Earth days. They light up the region of star formation with
a stellar wind of 3,225 km/s, among the highest measured for
stars of this type (reference Wikipedia – thank you)
