IC 1396 is about 3 full degrees across in size (6 full moons), and physically about 100Ly across and approximately 2400Ly away. The entire cloud is lit up by the bright star in the center, HD 206267 which is a triplet of stars, two of which are gravitationally bound with an orbit of 3.7 Earth days. They light up the region of star formation with a stellar wind of 3,225 km/s, among the highest measured for stars of this type (reference Wikipedia – thank you)
