Sh2-119 Ha+SII+OIII+RGB

Sharpless119 Sh2-119

The above image was done in PixInsight using the Foraxx script to get a starless Narrowband image then layering over that the RGB image. Tweaked in Photoshop.

Next up is a version done in PixInsight using the NBRGBCombine script plus some tweaks in Photoshop:

Sh2-119 NB+RGB

Yet another way to do this would be to bring the starless Ha, SII and OIII images into Photoshop, compose a starless SHO image and layer in the RGB there. That looks like this:

Sh2-119 NB+RGB

Lastly, one can take the pure RGB image then layer on top of that the three NB images and assign them to the colours we want them to hit. H-Alpha into Red 100% and to Blue 15%. SII into Green 100% and OIII into Blue 100%. All using Lighten blend mode. That looks like this:

Sh2-119 NB+RGB

and to reconnect us with reality, here is the pure RGB image:

Sharpless 119
-----------------------
This object is very strong in H-Alpha.

From Walter Koprolin: " Sharpless 119 is a large patch of emission nebulosity in Cygnus, about 3 degrees east of the North American Nebula, located around the bright 5th-magnitude star 68 Cygni (near the image center). It shows up quite easily in well-exposed wide-angle photographs of the region as large red patch of emission nebulosity. S. Sharpless, in his famous "Catalogue of H II Regions", published in 1959, indeed describes it as type 3, "bright". Interestingly, there are several dark lanes and dark globules superimposed on the southern part of the nebula. The area is part of the Milky Way and well populated by numerous stars. "
