  • Description: Open Cluster Messier 47 in Puppis. M46 is the cluster on the left, M47 on the right. Above M47 is cluster NGC2423 and if you look closely at the top end of M46, you can see the red planetary nebula NGC2438. M47 (NGC2422) contains about 30 bright stars covering 29 arc minutes of sky or about the diameter of the moon. Magnitude 4.4.
