  • Description: Galaxy M49 in Virgo. Not much to see in this image unfortunately. M49 is an E2 elliptical galaxy about 9 x 7 arc minutes in size. Glows at magnitude 9.4. The small galaxy to the right is NGC4470, 1.4 x 0.9 arc minutes, mag 13. Along the right edge is NGC4466, even smaller at 1.3 x 0.3 arc minutes, mag 14.4.
