  • Description: The California nebula in Perseus is a large nebula covering almost 3 x 1 degrees in size. It is also very rich in hydrogen-beta which is at the blue end of the spectrum. This gives NGC1499 its pink colour. Also known as SH2-220 and LBN 765. The little galaxy in the lower right is UGC2885. Magnitude 13.5, 3.8 x 1.9 arc minutes.
